Educating for life in all its fullness - John 10:10

Walk to School

Every Wednesday morning, our walk to school club meet at either the Watstock stile or Somerden and follows the footpaths through to the village, which are approximately 1-1.5 miles.

It is organised and run by Jack Vaughan and Claire Woodhouse and they are always accompanied by a cheery band of parents, carers and well behaved dogs on leads.

Come rain, shine or even snow, walkers gather at the Watstock stile from 8am and Somerden from 7:45am, where they are registered followed with a prompt start at 8:15am from Watstock and 8am from Somerden.

Any walkers arriving after that time, must be accompanied in catching up with the club and handed over to a member of staff. Responsibility cannot accepted for any child that has not been accounted for by a member of staff.

Whole club destinations are chosen either termly or yearly depending on world events or school topics. Each child's walk contributes towards the whole club's progression along the route. In the past these have included the World Cup in Russia, School residential locations, Rio Olympics, Britain's Coastline, Great Wall of China and Land's End to John O'Groats to name a few.

Every walker's progress can be followed on the display board outside class 3.

Club is open to the whole school and we look forward to welcoming you all on Wednesday mornings.

This year's challenge will be to walk to Tokyo ready for the Summer Olympics 2020!

Lots of certificate winners at the end of the year! Congratulations to you all.
