Chiddingstone Church of England School

Educating for life in all its fullness - John 10:10

Chiddingstone School, through its Development Trust, is appealing to everyone in the school community to make a modest, regular monthly gift: parents, staff, governors, old pupils and their families, local businesses and any other friends.  It is not the level of generosity, but the participation that is the key.

In addition to an 80% cut to our general capital funding, schools are facing considerable challenges as a consequence of reduced government funding; regrettably, Chiddingstone is no exception.

In light of this, it is clear that to continue to offer the high quality and unique, all-round education provision that exists at Chiddingstone School, we are increasingly dependent on alternative income streams, of which donations and fundraising are central.

We depend on the generosity of our parents and other members of our school community to help fund proposals by parents, staff and pupils for developments such as: improved outdoor provision; ICT provision programme; sports/PE specialist provision and modern foreign languages.  Parents and members of the community are encouraged to support the school by regular covenanting.

The value of gifts from UK tax payers increases by 25% at no extra cost to the donor through the Gift Aid scheme.  For example, a donation of £10 per month would be worth £150 per year to the school, including the Gift Aid.  If each family donated this amount, the children would benefit from at least £20,000 per year.  Given the pressures on funding, regular covenanting to the Development Trust will be vital, providing a guaranteed form of income for our school, thus enabling us to plan for longer term commitments and to continue to offer the many "extras" that Chiddingstone School has always historically been able to provide for our children.

Together, through the Development Trust, we will be able to ride through the current storm of cuts to the Public Sector to ensure that Chiddingstone children do not lose out.
