Chiddingstone School has an excellent recent history with regards to sport. We have enjoyed great success, both at local level and in the wider county. This was recognised in September 2014 as the school was given an award for the best sporting primary school in West Kent. In 2016 the school received a “Gold Sports Mark” award, the highest award available. We have retained this award for the current academic year (2017-2018). This recognises both curricular and extra-curricular options available at Chiddingstone.
Our curriculum follows the National Curriculum programme of study which focuses not just on specific sporting techniques, but the wider role of sport. The lessons are taught by our designated PE Coordinator, Mr Daniel Rowland. In addition, the school now also employs a designated assistant support for one day a week (see funding above). The sports the children are taught are:
Term 1 – Football
Term 2 – Netball
Term 3 – Gym/Dance
Term 4 – Tag Rugby
Term 5 – Cricket
Term 6 – Athletics
Each year the children also complete a week of swimming lessons. This is again taught by experienced coaches in fantastic facilities at Tonbridge School.
We are very proud of the number of clubs available on offer to the children, with over 70% of KS2 children taking part in extra-curricular activities. The school would like to thank the parents who regularly give up their term to help run these clubs, without them many of these clubs would not be able to continue. The clubs available are:
Cross Country KS2 (Term 1-4)
Gym Club (Term 1-6)
Street Dance KS2 (Term 1-6)
Football Club Years 4-6 (Terms 1-4)
Cricket Club (Term 5 & 6)

Some of the clubs are subject to weather conditions and the lack of daylight hours.
