Parking

Parking is on the road. Please do not park in front of the school. Please drive carefully and considerately through the village. Between 8:30 and 8.45, we run a drop and go service. Pupils are dropped off outside the school and greeted by a member of staff on duty. We operate a one way system through the village. The school is divided into three populations, each parking in Chiddingstone Castle car park for 2 out of the 6 terms to help relieve congestion in the village at drop off and pick up times.

Closure

If school is closed due to extreme weather conditions (such as heavy snow) a message will be posted on the homepage of the school website. Email and text message will also be sent to all families using the Arbor parent app. Announcements are also made on BBC Radio Kent (96.7fm or DAB) and other local radio stations. The information should be available on the Radio Kent website.

School attendance

  • After 8.45 the school gates will be closed. Children arriving after that time should be escorted into the building by a parent, who will be asked to sign the late book outside the office. If it is prior to 9.00 it will be recorded as late in the register. After 9.00 it will be recorded as an unauthorised absence.
  • If your child is unable to attend school due to illness please phone or email the school office on the morning of absence. There is a message service available.
  • Any dental/medical appointments should, if possible, be made after school hours or during the holidays.
  • Please view our Attendance Policy.

Children’s health

We have fully-qualified first aiders in school. If your child becomes unwell at school and needs collection we will call you. If your child has been unwell and needs to take medicine prescribed by your Doctor, we can administer it. The medicine must be delivered in person to the office, labelled with your child’s name, and you must complete and sign an 'Administering Medicine' form. Children must be kept away from school for 48 hours from last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting ( Reference Public Health England in schools).

Communication with School

We value our meetings with parents. You will have two appointments each year to meet with class teachers formally on parents evening/ family consultation days, along with the opportunity to meet class teachers at the start of each academic year for a curriculum information meeting and an open evening at the end of each academic year. We operate an open door policy but kindly request that if you wish to speak to your child’s teacher during normal school times, we ask that you do so at the end of the day after school pick-up, or arrange a meeting via the office if your teacher is not available.

All email communication with class teachers is via the main office office@chiddingstone.kent.sch.uk
